College mourns the passing of UPD Lt. Norman Phillip Rider, Sr.

It is with sadness that the College shares the news of the passing of Norman Phillip Rider, Sr., of Accord, N.Y. He was 71.

Rider served as a member of the SUNY New Paltz University Police Department (UPD) for many years and held the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his retirement in 1998.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, their five children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held at Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson, N.Y., on May 26.
