A celebration for the 2017 class of Haggerty English Language Program graduates

International students celebrated the completion of an important step toward their SUNY New Paltz educations, at the 2017 Haggerty English Language Program end of year reception on May 5.

The event brought together students, faculty and staff representing six continents, to reflect on their completion of the College’s intensive ESL program, and to look ahead to future challenges and opportunities in the U.S. and abroad.

“SUNY New Paltz prides itself on being the most international of the SUNY colleges, and we’re committed to preparing all of our students to become citizens in an increasingly global society,” said Dean of the Center for International Programs Bruce Sillner.

“Congratulations to you for making the most of this wonderful educational experience. We realize that to do what you have done took time, planning, financial resources and determination, both on your parts and that of your families. We hope that in the future you will regard your time at New Paltz as one of the most valuable and memorable educational experiences of your lives, and that you will tell your friends and families that they are welcome here.”

The Haggerty English Language Program provides year-round language instruction to international students and professionals, including representatives of many of the College’s exchange partner institutions.
