Class of 2016 undergraduates will celebrate the transition from students to alumni at the 100 Days Senior Celebration on Feb. 5, sponsored by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

The event marks an occasion for future alumni to commemorate their last 100 days on campus and obtain information on commencement, the Senior Gift program, and alumni programs and services. Alumni Advisory Council representatives will be on hand to offer guidance and answer questions.

Joey La Penna ’94 (Theatre) attended the event last year and will return in 2016 to offer advice to seniors in attendance. He wants to remind them to seize every opportunity they can.

“My advice to anyone graduating would be to do something smart financially and gain world experience as soon as possible,” he said. “Whatever one can afford, start a 401k, invest, find something where your money can grow, better to do it when you’re young than start in 20 years.”

La Penna also wants to encourage the graduating class to travel the world and volunteer, whether it is through the Peace Corps or a local service opportunity in their community.

Graduation from the College results in an automatic membership to the SUNY New Paltz Alumni Association. To learn more about Alumni Relations, obtain transcripts and get involved, visit the new website at www.newpaltz.edu/alumni.
