School of Business opens registration for CPA review courses

The SUNY New Paltz School of Business is the site of a series of Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) exam and review courses beginning Jan. 5. The courses are offered in partnership with Wiley “CPAexcel,” a leader in professional certification preparation that promises to be “Your Partner until You Pass.”

The courses are available at New Paltz through The Business Institute, through which the School of Business provides unique services to students, alumni and regional entrepreneurs.

A new partnership between The Business Institute and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. is now enabling the School of Business to offer test-preparation materials and courses, at discounted rates, for students and local residents who intend to earn Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status through completion of the Uniform CPA Examination.

“The process of registering for and taking the CPA exam can be daunting,” said Madeira Brickwood ‘14 (Accounting), an alumna of the Wiley CPA review program. “The instructors at SUNY New Paltz were very helpful in negotiating that process.

“The program itself is fantastic. It highlights the most likely-to-be-tested content areas and hits the most frequent trouble spots for students. The review meetings kept me accountable and on track with my individual study plan, and I looked forward to attending them every week. And of course having an instructor to answer questions was invaluable. I finished the sessions feeling very prepared and confident. I would urge anybody planning to take the CPA exam to look into the Wiley CPA review course at SUNY New Paltz.”

Enrollment is now open for the suite of Wiley “CPAexcel” courses hosted by The Business Institute in January 2016, all of which will be taught by experienced School of Business faculty.
