It is with great sadness that the College shares the news of the passing of Dr. Yvonne Allenson, former emeritus professor and chair emerita of the Division of Health, Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation, a now-retired program at SUNY New Paltz. Allenson passed away on Oct. 29 at the age of 84.
Allenson began her career at the New Paltz in 1965 and spent nearly 30 years at the College before retiring in 1994. She was known for her intellect, kindness and interest in local politics.
She lived in New Paltz with her husband, Emeritus Professor William Allenson, until his passing in Sept. 2015. The two were married for 47 years.
