Design Develop Construct Journal lauds college for sustainable construction changes

SUNY New Paltz has been included in the summer 2015 issue of Design Develop Construct Journal thanks to a $160 million renovation and new construction effort to transform the campus.

“When students look at college during their search in junior or senior year of high school, they generally already know what a college offers academically prior to arriving there,” said John McEnrue, director of facilities and design. “When they visit a campus, what attracts them to an institution is how it looks, how it feels and what they think of the facilities.”

This line of thinking has fueled the second phase’s of five key projects, including a new $48 million science building, a $14 million upgrade to the Sojourner Truth Library and a $36 million addition to the Wooster Building. The College is also working on a $17 million LEED Gold rennovation of LeFevre Hall and the construction of a new $32 million residence call called Ridgeview.
