SUNY New Paltz announces promotions in the Division of Administration and Finance

NEW PALTZ – The State University of New York at New Paltz announces the promotions of Julieta (Julie) Majak as Assistant Vice President for Administration, and Julie Chiarito as Assistant Vice President for Budget.

In her new role, Majak will oversee the offices of Accounting Services, Internal Controls, Receiving & Property Control, and act as the campus Controller.

A member of the New Paltz community for over 20 years, Majak has served as Contract Administrator in Purchasing, Associate Director of Administrative Services & Telecommunications, Director of Administrative Services, Director of Facilities Finance, and Assistant Vice President for Research Foundation and Operations Manager for Research Foundation. She has also served on several campus committees, including the Parking Committee, Facilities Master Landscape Plan, Middle States Reaccreditation Team, and Budget Goals and Plans.

Prior to coming to New Paltz, Majak worked at Ogden Industrial Services in the division of Facilities Maintenance & Management at the Poughkeepsie and Kingston locations. Majak holds a master’s degree in education administration from SUNY New Paltz and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Siena College.

Chiarito will now oversee the Payroll Office and will serve as the Campus Budget Officer. She has been a member of the campus community for six years as the Financial Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research.

Chiarito is a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Institutional Research and Planning Officers (AIRPO), where she has held the role of Treasurer for two years, the SUNY-wide Accounting/Budget/Bursar Group (ABB), and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Her campus committee activity has included the Campus Sustainability Committee, TAP Waiver Committee, Middle States Reaccreditation Team, and Budget Goals and Plans. Chiarito also volunteers for a local student exchange club, American Field Service (AFS), where she has held the role of Treasurer for several years.

Prior to coming to New Paltz, Chiarito worked at IBM for over 17 years as a Cost Accountant, General & Administrative Analyst and held the position of Lead Financial Analyst for Sales, General & Administrative (SG&A). She is a Certified Management Accountant and holds an MBA from Marist College and a bachelor’s degree in business from Empire State College.
