New Paltz School of Business granted AACSB International Accreditation

NEW PALTZ – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International has announced that the State University of New York at New Paltz has earned initial accreditation for its School of Business.

Fewer than five percent of the world’s business programs have earned AACSB Accreditation, the hallmark of excellence in business education. Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, evaluation, and adjustment and can take several years to complete. AACSB accreditation standards require a high quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of businesses. All accredited schools must go through a peer review process every five years in order to maintain their accreditation.

“This is wonderful news for everyone at the School of Business,” said Hadi Salavitabar, dean of the School of Business. “Our faculty, staff, students and curriculum excelled during this intense, seven-year accreditation process. We work hard to provide our students the best educational experience possible and I’m thrilled that our program is recognized as one of the top quality business programs in the world.”

“The School of Business provides an outstanding and challenging curriculum that prepares our students for careers in a global workforce,” said New Paltz President Donald P. Christian. “I’m especially proud of the high caliber and deep commitment of our faculty and staff that is reflected in our AACSB accreditation.”

“AACSB congratulates the State University of New York at New Paltz and Dean Hadi Salavitabar on earning accreditation, and we welcome them into the family of AACSB-accredited business schools,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. Dean Salavitabar and the faculty, directors, and staff of the State University of New York at New Paltz are to be commended for their role in earning accreditation.

“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB accreditation, and I commend the State University of New York at New Paltz for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community,” said Reid. “Through accreditation, the State University of New York at New Paltz has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students.”
