Doug Sheppard Classic

All are invited to tee off at the annual Doug Sheppard Classic: New Paltz’s Scholarship Golf Tournament held on Monday, June 13 at the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will support New Paltz students by endowing a scholarship fund at New Paltz. Scholarships allow the College to enroll outstanding students who will bring their creativity, passion and leadership to all sectors of society. All levels of sponsorship packages are offered for both team participants and non-players.

The tournament is named in memory of the longtime professor, administrator and coach, Doug Sheppard, who died in 2008. Shep, as he was known to many, was New Platz’s golf coach for 32 years, for whom his players had great respect and played hard. Shep was also an avid player, who was a familiar fixture at local golf courses and tournaments in the area.

Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. and the shotgun start of the four-person scramble format takes place at 9 a.m.

The $200 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, breakfast, refreshments on the course, beverage carts, tournament logo gear and awards banquet dinner. Each player is eligible for awards, contests and prizes that will be presented at a banquet dinner at 3 p.m. in the Wiltwyck Golf Club Ballroom. The dinner also features a raffle and silent auction. The banquet is open to non-golfers as well for $50.
