Caban and Sitek Lead Hawks Past Lehman College

The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team traveled to Lehman College Tuesday night for a non-conference game. The Hawks defeated the Lightning by the score of 73-53 (Box Score). The Hawks improve to 3-1 overall and return to the court Friday, December 4 against conference opponent Plattsburgh at 6 p.m. in the Hawk Center.

"Kristin Sitek gave us a big lift off the bench after some starters got into some early foul trouble" said head coach Jamie Seward. "Kristen Caban gave us a quick jump in the first half with four 3-pointers. Sitek, Katie Clifford, Kahsyrah Bryant and Maliqua Fisher played very well for us off the bench."

The Hawks finished the first half on 7-0 run to take a 33-25 lead into the break. In the second half, the Hawks came out and put more pressure on the Lightning. The Hawks increased their lead to as many as 13 points in the first five minutes of the half. The defense of the Hawks led to 18 fast break points in the second half en route to the 73-53 win for the Hawks.

Caban led the way with a game-high 18 points, with four 3-pointers and added six rebounds. Clifford and Sitek added 10 points a piece off the bench and Maggie Farrell chipped in with 11 points. Maliqua Fisher had a game-high nine rebounds for the Hawks.

The Lightning were led by Melissa St. Louis with 14 points and Kelsey Ash added 13 points. Dorothy Hunte chipped in with nine points as Lehman falls to 0-3 on the season.
