The New Paltz community is embarking on a literary journey along the Hudson River as part of this year’s One Book, One New Paltz reading celebration, beginning on Nov. 15.
Overflowing with regional, historical and cultural significance, this year’s selection, “Rip Van Winkle” by Washington Irving, is sure to entertain and educate New Paltz readers of all ages.
Now in its fourth year, the program invokes a sense of community and love for reading by inviting the local residents to read and share their thoughts on a common book.
After reading the classic tale of “Rip Van Winkle,” a man who falls asleep for 20 years in the Hudson Valley, participants are encouraged to participate in engaging activities based on this story, including community book discussions, performances, a film showing/discussion and an academic panel presentation.
All events are free and open to the public.
