Hawks Perfect 2-0 on Day Two at SUNYAC’s

CORTLAND, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team finished up SUNYAC Pool Play at Cortland with victories over Potsdam and Oneonta. The Hawks went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend to claim a 7-1 overall record in SUNYAC’s and will host the conference tournament November 5-7.

In the first game, the Hawks defeated Potsdam 3-0 by the scores of 28-26, 25-14, 25-11. Kelsey Garmendia led the Hawks with 23 assists. Stephanie Skrobach had nine kills and Brittany Coyle chipped in with eight. Loren Crabbe and Priska Wilson each tallied nine digs to lead the defense.

In the second game, the Hawks fell down 1-0 to Oneonta, but rebounded by winning the second, third and fourth sets. The scores were 21-15, 25-18, 25-17, 25-14. Stephanie Bova had a game-high 44 assists and Melinda DiGiovanna led the Hawks with 18 digs on defense. Loren Crabbe added 16 digs. Brittany Coyle led the team with 14 kills and Stephanie Skrobach chipped in with 11 kills. Coyle and Dana Kindelmann each recorded three blocks on defense.

The Hawks have won 16 straight games overall and 24 of their last 25 to improve to 26-5 overall. The Hawks return to the court Friday and Saturday in the Skidmore Tournament
