Manhattanville Extends Hawks Winless Streak to Five

PURCHASE, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team traveled to Manhattanville College Wednesday evening and fell to the Valiants 2-0 on the GoValiants.com Field. 

The first half was evenly played by both teams, with the Valiants holding a slight 9-6 shot advantage.  Hawks keeper Stephanie Vega made seven saves in the half and Ali Bromson made five stops for Manhattanville.

In the 50th minute, the Valiants netted the first goal of the game.  Bailey Flood found Holly Nonis for her sixth goal of the season, beating Vega right corner.  Manhattanville would get the insurance goal in the 56th minute when Holly Nonis cross found Bailey Flood for her first goal of the season. 

The Hawks were outshot 18-8 in the game and Manhattanville held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.  Ali Bromson recorded the victory in net, saving five on the evening.  Manhattanville improves to 7-1-1 overall.

Sarah Demarzo led the Hawks with three shots and Vanessa Rogers and Alexa Balestrieri each had two a piece.  Stephanie Vega recorded the loss in net, stopping a career high 12 on the evening.

New Paltz falls to 3-4-3 overall and 0-2-1 in the SUNYAC.  The Hawks return to the field on Friday against Brockport at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of Brockport State.
