ITA and USTA Officials Film At New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team had the privilege to be apart of a NCAA, USTA and ITA training session Tuesday evening on the tennis courts.

Umpires and officials from both the USTA and the ITA used the Hawks courts and current players of the women’s tennis team to film a new USTA/ITA Umpires & Referees Rules Training Video. Freshmen Montana Wilson and Mackenzie Riley, junior Lindsey Garyn and sophomore Ingrid Maryansky were used to simulate different tennis scenarios where the rules of the game came into question.

The many situations the girls were placed into will be used to train officials, over the coming months, from both the USTA and the ITA. The many USTA officials who will be using this training video will be on show at the 2010 US Open and Open Series Events and many of the top ITA officials will be overseeing prestigious NCAA Division I tennis matches around the country. The filming took up most of Tuesday afternoon and the girls enjoyed being “Movie Stars” for a day.
