Junior Melyssa Cilmi (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) was named the 2009 most valuable player. Cilmi was a versatile player all year and saw time at centerfield, third base and finished the season at shortstop. She was selected to the softball All-SUNYAC team for the second consecutive year as she started all 20 conference games, including 17 in the infield, and hit .348 with a team high 24 hits and 15 runs scored. Overall on the season she appeared in 37 games, making 36 starts, hitting .317 with 38 hits and 25 runs scored, second most on the team in both categories.
