Geneseo women’s lacrosse rolls past the Hawks

GENESEO, NY-  The SUNY New Paltz women’s lacrosse traveled to conference opponent SUNY Geneseo and fell to the Knights 19-0 Saturday afternoon.

Geneseo scored 12 goals in the first half and seven the second half for the 19-0 victory. 

Maggie Morris and Abby Hungeford each tallied four goals and Morris added two assists on the afternoon.  Tara Murphy added three goals and Cassie Broton added two goals and two assists.

Starting goalie Hannah McKee recorded the win in net playing the just in the first half and making two saves.  Annie Smith played the second half and made one save.  Geneseo improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC.

Junior Frieda Shumel (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) had two shots on goal and sophomore Brittany Bennett (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) recorded one shot on goal for the Hawks.  Freshman Julia Donato (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) had three groundballs and freshman Krista Hannaford (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) had one groundball and forced four turnovers.

Senior goalie Lorraine Vultaggio (Babylon, NY/Miller Place) recorded the loss in net saving 14  and had four groundballs.  New Paltz falls to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC.

The Hawks return to the field April 7 against conference opponenet Potsdam at 4 p.m. on the campus of SUNY Potsdam.
