Brockport defeats women’s lacrosse 20-10

BROCKPORT, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s lacrosse team fell to host Brockport 20-10 Saturday afternoon.

Brockport was led by Dayna Piraino with four goals and five assists and Karen Bianchi and Melissa Hill each tallied four goals for Brockport.

The Hawks were led by sophomore Brittany Bennett (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) with four goals and one assist and freshman Kim Hall (Cortland, NY/Cortland) added two goals and two assists.  Freshman Sam DelGaudio (Northport, NY/Northport) and freshman Julia Donato (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) each added two goals apiece for the Hawks.

Brockport scored first just a minute and a half into the game, but the Hawks would tie the game two minutes later.  The Hawks would battle Brockport and was within 6-4 with14:10 remaining before Brockport scored eight straight to take a 14-6 lead at the half. 

The second half, the Hawks were able to cut hte score to 15-9 with 20 minutes remaining, but Brockport would end the Hawks rally as the Golden Eagles would score five of three straight goals to increase their lead to 18-9.

Jamie Kaminski recorded the win in net allowing ten goals and saving five shots.  Brockport improves 2-7 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC.

Senior Lorraine Vultaggio (Babylon, NY/Miller Place) recorded the loss in net allowing 20 goals and saving 22 shots.  New Paltz falls to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the SUNYAC.

The Hawks return to the field Tuesday April 14 against conference opponent Cortland at 3 p.m. on the Turf Field on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
