Men’s and Women’s Swimming Finish Third at Union Relays

The men’s and women’s swim teams competed in the Union Relays today and each squad finished third. The women took third with 88 points and the men tied Vassar for third with 70 points.

On the women’s side, Joelle Hopf, Erica Ellis and Becky Baker were the lone winning relay in the 300 breaststroke with a time of 3:32.95. Hopf and Ellis teamed with Tiffany Sorrell and Christine Rieth to take second in the 400 medley relay in 4:10.88. Sorrell teamed with Samantha Graham and Marissa Morris to finish second in the 300 backstroke relay in 3:12.47. Ellis was a part of the second place 300 butterfly relay with Allison Wells and Amanda Cloer (3:12.76). Rieth, Wells, Morris and Jessica Lester teamed together for the 500 freestyle crescendo relay and took second. Ellis, Hopf and Morris took second in the 600 IM relay. Graham, Baker, Ellis and Rieth finished second in the 200 medley relay.

Jesse Sweeney, Rob Webb, Stephen Cozzolongo and Dave Gardner touched third in the 400 medley relay in 3:44.35. Cozzolongo teamed with Cory Lomasi and Sweeney for a second place finish in the 300 backstroke relay (2:48.56). Billly Papetti, Patrick Rathbun, David Gardner and Pete Nastasi teamed up for a second place finish in the 500 freestyle crescendo relay. Rathbun, Nastasi, Webb and Gardner took third in the 400 freestyle relay.

Both teams will return to the pool on Friday November 7th when they host Oneonta at 4pm.
