Union field hockey defeats New Paltz, 4-1

SCHENTADY, NY- The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team fell to host Union College Friday evening by the score of 4-1.

Union scored just 34 seconds into the game, when Lizzy Moran found Tyler Willey on the left side of the cage for the goal.

The Hawks evened the contest at the 5:32 mark, when Jessi Moore (Walden, NY/Pine Bush) took a shot and the rebound was put into the back of the cage by Sarah Schloss (Brant Lake, NY/ North Warren).

Two minutes later, Moran gave the lead back to Union off a pass from Anne Hanson. Union led 2-1 at the half.

Union opened with a goal just two minutes into the second half, when Kelsey Powers broke in alone for the goal and the 3-1 lead.

Willey tallied her second goal of contest when Powers found her open on right side of the cage.

Elizabeth Tong (Woodstock, NY/Onteora) recorded the loss in net tallying seven saves in 48:59 minutes of play. Grace Watson (Bayville, NY/Locust Valley) tallied three saves and allowed no goals in 21:01 minutes played. The Hawks fall to 3-12 overall and 0-6 in SUNYAC competition.

The return to the field November 1 against Ramapo for senior day at 1 p.m.
