Win Streak Ends as Volleyball Goes 1-1 on Day Two at Salisbury Tournament

The women’s volleyball team continued play at the Salisbury Invitational this afternoon and saw their win streak come to an end. New Paltz defeated Susquehanna 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 25-8) before picking up their first loss of the season against Salisbury 3-0 (16-25, 22-25, 20-25). New Paltz stands at 17-1 on the season.

In the first match of the day, Brittany Coyle hit .500 with seven kills and four blocks. Tara Annuziata added six kills and three blocks. Junior Stephanie Bova handed out 30 assists and Nicole Mercadante contributed 12 digs.

Melinda DiGiovanna led the attack against Salisbury with seven kills and 20 digs. Samantha Prudente registered five kills and Alison Kiernan recorded four kills. Bova dished out 21 assists.

Coyle and Bova were each selected to the All-Tournament team. New Paltz will return to action on Wednesday October 8th when they travel to Williams at 7pm.
