Women’s Soccer Falls to RPI 3-2

The women’s soccer team completed play at the Union College Soccer Invitational today with a 3-2 loss against RPI.

Trailing 3-0, New Paltz sophomore forward Kelly Gorton (New Paltz, NY) got the Hawks on the board when she won the ball in a scramble in front of the net at 71:44 and sophomore forward Rebecca Devlin (Staten Island, NY) pulled her team within one at 85:00, but that is as close as the Hawks would come.

New Paltz goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) finished the day with four saves, while RPI goalie, Meghan White, turned aside three saves. White made a spectacular save during the 35th minute, denying a rocket from New Paltz freshman Danielle Sawicki (Garden City, NY).

RPI owned the advantage at shots (13-7), shots on goal (7-5) and corners (7-1).

New Paltz falls to 0-2 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Ramapo for a 4:30 matchup.
