Baseball Falls to Ithaca 6-3

NEW PALTZ, NY — The baseball team hosted Ithaca this afternoon and fell to the Bombers 6-3.
Ithaca led 1-0 before the Hawks tallied all three of their runs in the second inning on four hits and one Ithaca error. Kevin Paino singled to left field and scored on an RBI double to center field by Devin Scalabrini. Javier Lopez singled to center field, advancing Scalabrini to third. Robert Helf reached on an error by the shortstop, sending Scalabrini home. Jesse Marsh hit an RBI single to score Lopez.
The Bombers registered two hits and two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3. In the seventh inning Ithaca hit a two run homerun and followed with another homerun in the ninth for the 6-3 final.
Marsh, Joel Judson and Tyler Terlecky each had two hits for the Hawks as the team posted 10 hits, leaving eight on base. Ithaca totaled eight hits and left six on base. Jeff Stith took the loss on the mound allowing three hits, three runs, two walks and striking out two batters in the final two innings. Jonathan Shanks threw the first six innings and allowing five hits, three runs and two walks.
New Paltz will return to action this Saturday when they host Plattsburgh at 12pm in a SUNYAC doubleheader.
