Senior Sarah Salvo tied her career high 18 points as the women’s basketball team defeated Villa Julie 75-50 in the Scotty Wood Tournament consolation game. Salvo was seven of ten from the floor and grabbed six boards.
Sophomore Kristen Caben finished with 14 points on five of eight from the field, including four of six from behind the arc on her way to earning all-tournament honors. Classmate Chelsea Clarke chipped in with 13 points on 6-11 from the field and grabbed a team high seven boards.
New Paltz (1-1) outshot Villa Julie 44.8% to 27.6%. The Hawks return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Vassar for a 7:00 pm matchup.
