SUNYAC Pool Play Round Two

CORTLAND, NY — The women’s volleyball team began the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play Friday afternoon. The Hawks defeated Oneonta 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-19) as junior Amanda Brown led the attack with 13 kills. Senior Katie Becofsky dished out 27 assists and 13 digs and Kim Braga finished with nine kills and five blocks. New Paltz won 3-0 over SUNYIT (30-17, 30-19, 30-11) as sophomore Amanda Kopp paced the offense with 11 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Stephanie Bova handed out 25 assists.
On Saturday New Paltz defeated Plattsburgh in their first match of the day 3-0 (30-12, 30-22, 30-26). Braga led the attack with 13 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Brittany Coyle totaled seven kills on 12 attempts and Becofsky dished out 25 assists. The Hawks defeated Potsdam 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-22). Coyle, Lauren Hogue and Samantha Prudente each finished with 11 kills. Becofsky handed out 38 assists and Nicole Mercadante collected 18 digs.
New Paltz finished the day with a 3-0 loss to Cortland (30-16, 33-31, 30-24). Amanda Brown paced the attack with 13 kills and seven digs. Allison Kiernan totaled nine kills and two blocks and Becofsky dished out 31 assis
The Hawks finish pool play as the second seed in the East Division and will travel to Cortland for the playoffs November 1-3. New Paltz returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Eastern Connecticut for a 7pm match.
