Men’s Soccer Ties Oswego 1-1

The men’s soccer team hosted Oswego this afternoon and battled the Lakers to 1-1 double overtime tie. Sophomore Anton Shipman put the Hawks on the board first at 15:33. Shipman headed the ball into the net off a direct kick taken by Allan Bronstein. The Hawks had an opportunity to take a 2-0 lead with 14 minutes left in the first half when Lucas Natel was one-on-one with Oswego keeper Shaun Sessa. Natel went to move left and Sessa denied the movement, stripping Natel of the ball. The Lakers best chance of the half came at 33:51 when Felipe Cavalcanti put a ball throw New Paltz keeper Mike Judge’s hands, but Bronstein was there to clear the ball off the goal line. At 41:14 Bronstein fired a direct kick from the top of the box, that ricocheted off the cross bar. Shipman picked the rebound and headed the ball wide left.
In the second stanza the Lakers tallied the equalizer at 77:26 when Ryan Aman blasted a shot past Judge. The Hawks outshot the Lakers in the overtime 6-2, and unable to capitalize on any opportunities. Judge finished with 13 saves.
New Paltz finishes their season on Wednesday October 24th on the road when they face Vassar at 3 pm.
