Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Bengals 2-0

NEW PALTZ, NY — The women’s soccer team hosted Buffalo State this afternoon and shutout the Bengals 2-0. The Hawks advance to 4-3-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Jennifer Moretti gave the Hawks the 1-0 lead in the 34th minute on a direct kick from 25 yards out. Moretti fired a shot under the cross bar, just out of reach from Buffalo State’s keeper Katie Melsert. New Paltz dominated play throughout the game, outshooting the Bengals 30-7 and held a 6-1 corner kick advantage. Senior Stephanie Potts registered her first goal late in the game with an assist from Brittany Bennett. Bennett crossed the ball from the left side and Potts knocked it into the lower right corner.
Sarah Boccard made four saves in the shutout, and has gone 425 minutes without allowing a goal.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday September 26th when they travel to Manhattanville for a 4pm match-up before returning to SUNYAC play next weekend when they face Geneseo and Brockport on the road.

Boccard posted her fourth consecutive shutout in the 2-0 win against Buffalo State.
