Volleyball Goes 2-0 on First Day of Pool Play

ONEONTA, NY — The women’s volleyball team traveled to Oneonta this afternoon for the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play. The Hawks started play with a 3-1 win over Oneonta (33-35, 30-15, 30-27, 30-26). Sophomore Brittany Coyle led the attack with 18 kills and four blocks. Middle hitter Dana Kindelmann finished with 12 kills on 22 attempts with zero errors for a hitting percentage of .545. Senior Kim Braga totaled 11 kills, nine digs and classmate Katie Becofsky dished out 46 assists and tallied five kills, 18 digs and four blocks. Samantha Prudente collected 29 digs for the Hawks.
New Paltz defeated Plattsburgh 3-0 (30-10, 30-16, 30-23) in the nightcap. Amanda Brown and Amanda Kopp each finished with eight kills to pace the attack. Stephanie Bova handed out 23 assists and Kelsey Noble finished with 10 digs.
The Hawks return to Pool Play action tomorrow when they face Cortland at 10am, Potsdam at 1pm and SUNYIT at 3pm.
