Field Hockey Falls to Union, 4-1

NEW PALTZ, NY — The field hockey team hosted Union College this afternoon in a non-conference match-up and fell to the Dutchwomen 4-1. Union took an early lead just under three minutes into the contest on a goal from Kelsey Powers, assisted by Alexandra King. New Paltz answered less than a minute later when Jess Moore scored unassisted. Union took the lead for good in the 19th minute on an unassisted goal by Mallory Mason. The Dutchwomen scored an insurance goal in the 32nd minute, followed by the only second half goal in the 45th minute.
The Hawks were out-shot 21-2 and lost the corner battle 14-3. Elizabeth Dini posted 12 saves in net as New Paltz falls to 2-6 and returns to action on Friday when they host Skidmore at 4pm.
