Hawks Fall to Earlham in Doubleheader

FT. PIERCE, FL — The SUNY New Paltz baseball team continued play in Ft. Pierce, FL today with a doubleheader against Earlham.
In game one the Hawks lost a tough 5-4 decision. New Paltz took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Justin Buonamano singled and advanced to second on an error. Alex Cadmus singled sending Buonamano home. Cadmus stole second and scored on a Robert Helf hit.
Earlham scored all five of their runs in the fifth.
New Paltz scored one run in the sixth on a wild pitch and another in the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but fell one run short of forcing extra innings.
Jesse Marsh and Justin Buonamano each had two hits for the Hawks.
Neal Rosengren took the loss on the mound. He threw 4.2 innings, allowing eight hits, two walks and struck out four.
In the second game the Hawks fell 3-0. Earlham scored twice in the third and once in the fourth. Justin Duchin took the loss on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings, allowing two hits and three runs with two strikeouts. Tristan Adams came in for relief and pitched 2.2 innings and allowed two hits with three strikeouts. Tyler Terlecky and George Perry led the offense with two hits each. Buonamano, Cadmus and Javier Lopez each had one hit.
