Men’s Basketball Drops 75-57 Decision to Oneonta

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team hosted the Oneonta Red Dragons Saturday afternoon in a conference game and fell by a 75-57 decision. Oneonta opened up the game with a 14-0 run. New Paltz got on the board at 14:12 on a layup by John Hauser. Oneonta used a 57.1 field goal percentage to take a 39-18 intermission lead.
The closest the Hawks would come in the second period was within 13 points at 66-53 with two minutes remaining. Matt Hauser and Jimmy Sugrue lead New Paltz with 12 points each. Matt Hauser hit all of his twelve points in the second half on four three pointers. Sugrue went five of ten from the field. John Hauser finished with 10 points and Lee Bertram grabbed a team high nine boards.
SUNY New Paltz falls to 9-10 on the season and 3-8 in conference play. The Hawks return to action on Tuesday when they host the Morrisville Mustangs at 7 p.m.
