Hawks Sweep Roadrunners 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team hosted Ramapo tonight and swept the Roadrunners 3-0 (34-32, 30-21, 30-26). With the win the Hawks advance to 13-4 on the season and 7-2 in the NECVA-metro division.
In game one, Ramapo jumped out to an early 15-9 lead before New Paltz crawled back to trail 19-15. The Hawks then went on a 4-0 run to tie the game as first year Michael Fink tallied three service aces and senior Jeff Lee collected a block. Ramapo then took the lead until a tie at 27 before the back and fourth battle began. The last tie came at 32-32 before Lee and Ryan Huberty each tallied a kill.
In game two, the Hawks took command of the game and cruised to a 30-21 victory. The final game saw New Paltz trail 20-17 before the game was tied at 20-20 and 22-22. Then the Hawks got a kill by senior Joshua Spiro to take the lead for the rest of the game. Matt Weingarten tallied three of his four block assists in the final six plays to give the Hawks the 30-26 win.
Lee led the attack with 11 kills, four digs, and four blocks. Spiro finished with 10 kills on 19 attempts and first year Christopher Holden collected eight kills, and nine blocks. Weigarten dished out 31 assists and Pedro Medina added 10 digs for the Hawks.
SUNY New Paltz will be on the road this weekend when they travel to the Endicott Tournament on March 3-4.
