Hawks Fall to Red Dragons in Semifinals

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks traveled to Cortland for the SUNYAC Semifinals and fell by a score of 71-55. The Hawks held their only lead of the game at 5-3 in the first before the Red Dragons went on a 15-0 run to take command of the game and end the half with the 33-15 advantage. In the second half, New Paltz came out fighting and narrowed the score to 42-33 with 13:26 remaining, but that is as close as they would come. The Hawks trailed by 10 with 10:15 remaining before the Red Dragons went on a 12-3 run for the 60-41 lead with 6:11 left.
Senior Kerri Kelty and Chelsea Clarke led New Paltz with 12 points and five rebounds each. Kelty hit eight of her 10 free throw attempts. Senior Jenny Driscoll finished with eight points and junior Amber Sohns chipped in with seven.
