Hawks Down Bearcats 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Patlz men’s volleyball team hosted the Baruch tonight and swept the Bearcats 3-0 (30-28, 30-28, 30-24). The first game was a back and forth battle with several lead changes and the last tie coming at 27-27. Game two saw the Hawks ahead 26-21 before Baruch went on a run and tied the game at 27-27, before Baruch hit an attempt out of bounds, followed a New Paltz kill for the 29-27 lead. New Paltz then was called for a tip which dropped the lead to one before Josh Spiro ended the game with a kill. New Paltz controlled the third game with an early 15-7 lead and never looked back.
Spiro paced the attack for the Hawks with 12 kills and eight blocks. Jeff Lee finished with nine kills and 11 digs, while Christopher Holden added nine kills and six block assists. Pedro Medina collected 24 digs and Matt Weingarten handed out 33 assists.
SUNY New Paltz advances to 9-3 on the season and will return to action on Friday when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology to take on the Ducks. Earlier in the season the Hawks fell to the Ducks 3-0.
