Wildcats Too Much for Hawks

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team hosted the SUNYIT Wildcats and dropped a 94-83 decision. The Hawks fall to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference, as SUNYIT advances to 8-7 and 3-4.
SUNYIT led 43-32 with 4:34 remaining in the first half on a three pointer by Chris Plante. The Hawks closed out the half by going on a 15-7 run to end the half down by three, 50-47. New Paltz opened the half on a three pointer by Matt Hauser to tie the game and the last lead they would see would be at 16:30 in the second, up 55-54. The Wildcats opened up the game for good on a 21-7 run and it was too much for the Hawks to overcome.
Senior John Hauser led the way with a career high 31 points, including 20 in the first half. Amseshem Foluke-Henderson chipped in with 26 points and hauled down eight boards. Matt Hauser finished with 11 points and Matt Irwin dished out 10 assists.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow night when they host the Geneseo Blue Knights at 8 p.m.
