Sitek and Sohns Lead Hawks Past Knights

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball hosted the Geneseo Knights Saturday night and claimed a 71-64 win behind first year Kristen Sitek’s 15 points on five of six from the field and five of five from the line.
The Hawks led 41-31 at the intermission and opened up the second half strong with a 13-4 run for the largest lead of the game. The Knights fought back to within three with 5:46 remaining but strong defense and free throw shooting sealed the win for the Hawks.
Amber Sohns finished wiht 14 points, and Nicole Sarcone chipped in with seven points and dished out five assists. Senior Jenny Driscoll added nine points.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday when they host the Vassar Brewers at 7 pm.
