TROY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s swimming team competed in the 2007 Henry Kumpf Invitational held this afternoon at Robison Pool, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The Hawks finished in 4th place with a team total of 313.50 points.
Stephen Cozzolongo was the lone winner for the Hawks with a first place finish in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:00.52. Zack Lowenstein (2:05.34) and Johnny Fleckenstein (2:06.43) finished 4th and 6th in the race, respectively. Lowenstein claimed a fourth place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.27 and Joe Fails finished 5th in the 500 freestyle in 23.28.
Fails teamed up with Fleckenstein, Cozzolongo and Lowenstein in the 400 free relay and touched fourth in 3:26.19. The 400 Medley Relay of Cozzolongo, Danny Lo, Mark Chipman and Joe Fails finished fifth in 3:51.25.
New Paltz will return to action on Wednesday Jan. 17th when they travel to Stevens.
