Swim Teams Top Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s swim teams traveled to Morrsiville to take on the Mustangs.
The men’s team was led by first year Stephen Cozzolongo who was a double winner and part of the winning 400 Free Relay. Cozzolongo placed first in the 200 IM (2:10.15) and the 200 backstroke (2:03.72) before combining with Dan Roth, Stefan Crain, and Johnny Fleckenstein for a time of 3:34.18 in the 400 free relay. Crain was the individual winner in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.73. Junior Mike Demerest touched first in the 50 free (24.67) and Zack Lowenstein finished first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:20.40. Lowenstein teamed with Fleckenstein, Brian Bennett, and Tom McCarthy for a first place finish in the 400 yard medley relay (4:10.19).
The women’s team was led by senior Liz Delia who claimed first in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:06.86 and was a member of the winning 400 yard medley relay team of Bethann Salter, Erica Ellis and Samantha Graham in 4:28.99. Sophomore Nicole Moss touched at 12:01.47 in the 1000 yard freestyle. Laura Lipp led the Hawks in the 50 freestyle with a first place finish of 27.21 and Joelle Hopf finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.38. First year Bridget Corso and junior Regina Davide finished first in the 200 yard butterfly and the 100 free, respectively. Corso touched in 2:34.68 and Davide touched in 57.45.
