Hawks Are Elminated From SUNYAC Tournament 3-0 by Geneseo

BROCKPORT, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team took on the Geneseo Knights in the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament Friday evening and lost 3-0. The Hawks were seeded number one in the East Division and the Knights were the second seed in the West Division.
In game one the Hawks were down by as many as 12 points at the 22-10 mark and could only manage to come back to within seven to end the game at 30-22. SUNY New Paltz had four service errors and three into the net calls against them.
The Hawks lost the second game by a score of 30-14. Geneseo outscored the Hawks on a run of 18-6 to close the game.
The final game saw the Hawks down 24-13 after the Knights scored eight consecutive points. The Hawks then had a run of their own of six points to bring the game to 24-19. The Hawks were soon back down by six at 26-20 but fought back hard to tie the game at 28-28 but couldn’t finish to end the game at 30-28.
Senior Kim Clouston led the way for the Hawks with 12 kills and seven digs. Amanda Brown finished with seven kills and 17 digs as junior Katie Becofsky dished out 35 assists. Sophomore Nicole Mercandante recorded 20 digs for the Hawks and Kate Roche added six kills.
Clouston was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team for her performance.
