2006 Women’s Soccer Season Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2006, the team compiled a record of 6-8-3. In a competitive SUNYAC league the Hawks battled to a 3-5-2 record and finished seventh in the conference, just missing post season play. One highlight of the season included a 2-1 double overtime victory over Cortland. It was the first win for the Hawks against the Red Dragons in 23 tries. Junior Lauren Martel netted the game winner as Kelly Amendola filled the goalie position and posted 16 saves. On the season, senior Kerri Kelty posted a team high seven goals, four assists and was named third team All-SUNYAC. Joining Kelty with third team All-SUNYAC honors were midfielder Jennifer Anselmi and defender Jennifer Moretti. Senior Alison Fliegel collected three goals, two assists. Sophomore Sarah Boccard posted a 1.13 goal against average along with seven shutouts on the season.
