Hawks Win Third Straight, Down Stevens 2-1

KINGSTON, NY — The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology 2-1 to notch their third straight win.

The Ducks got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Beth Rychcik (Pleasant Valley, NY) at 13:50.

The Hawks came back at 35:10 when junior Jacqueline Sisco (Wappingers Falls, NY) redirected a blast from just outside the circle from Kaitlin Ruggiero (Carmel, NY). Sisco got the game winning goal at 61:09 in the same manner redirecting a shot by Justine Fairclough (Glen Cove, NY).

Nicole Kovac (Manlius, NY) made 8 saves, but none more important than a point blank stuff with 1:44 left on the clock.

The Hawks improve to 6-10 overall, and travel to Cortland for a conference make-up game against Geneseo tomorrow at 4pm. New Paltz returns home for their final contest on Saturday, October 28th against William Patterson at 12:00pm.
