Conference Championship Tournament this Weekend

MANLIUS, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team will be competing in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament at the Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, NY this weekend. Each of the Hawks received a bye into the quarterfinal round, slated to start on Saturday morning. In 2005, the Hawks finished in second place, three points behind Cortland. The Hawks are hoping to reclaim the title they won in 2002.
Dana Lim (New City, NY/ Clarkstown) is the number two seed in the first singles flight. She will face Ashley Abar of Plattsburgh on Saturday.
Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) is the number one seed in second singles and will face Michelle Giorlando from Oswego.
Liz Beirne (Moriches, NY) will compete in the third singles and will face Erin McLaughlin of Brockport.
Number one seed, Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis, NY) faces Christina Collins of Potsdam in fourth singles.
In fifth singles, Katherine Ketigian (Garden City, NY) pairs ups against Elise Peridard of Oneonta. Ketigian is seed number one in her flight.
Kerri Serkes (Massapequa, NY) will compete in the sixth singles flight as the top seed.
The Hawks received all of the number one seeds in the doubles flights. Lim and Yamakawa will take on Husson and Fernandes of Cortland in first doubles. In second doubles, Ketigian and Larson will face Brown and Hogen of Potsdam. Beirne and Lyndsey Lovinger (Miller Place, NY) will be in the third doubles flight, taking on Rogers and Roy of Plattsburgh.
