Tennis to Compete at ITA Tournament this Weekend

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team will begin competing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tournament held at William Smith in Geneva, NY on Friday, Sept. 22nd.
Friday will feature two rounds of singles play and one round of doubles. In the singles bracket, sophomore Dana Lim (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) has been seeded #4 and will face Alexandra Holzman of Drew University. Junior Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) is the 16th seed and will pair up against Plattburgh’s Valerie Papi.
Laura Elizabeth-Beirne (Moriches, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) faces Kristin Tukel of Richard Stockton in the opening round, while Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis)will play Shari Damon of William Smith.
In doubles action, Lim and Yamakawa drew the number two seed and will face Griffin and Hale of St. John Fisher on Friday. Katherine Ketigian (Scared Heart Academy/Garden City) and Larson will square off against Cross and Webster of the University of Rochester.
