New Paltz Tallies Late Goal in 2-1 Loss

BROCKPORT, NY — Senior Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream) tallied the loan goal for the Hawks in a 2-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) loss to Brockport this afternoon on A. Huntley Parker, Jr. Field in Brockport.

After playing scoreless soccer for the first 25 minutes of the game, Jill Neidlinger converted an Ashley Ewin corner kick to give Brockport the 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Neidlinger and Jess Van Allen worked with each other in a rush along the end line near the goal and Van Allen pushed a shot past New Paltz goalie, Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville) to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead.

With only 14 seconds left in regulation play, New Paltz got on the scoreboard as Kelty headed in a ball off a direct kick by Jennifer Moretti (Sayville) to make it a 2-1 game.

Boccard stopped 19 shots in the losing effort for the Hawks. New Paltz will host SUNY Oswego on Friday Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. and SUNY Cortland on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
