Laker’s Tally Late Goal to win 3-2 over New Paltz Men’s Soccer

NEW PALTZ, NY — The New Paltz men’s soccer team was defeated 3-2 by Oswego State on Friday, Sept. 22 as the Lakers tallied two goals in the final 17 minutes of the game to capture the win.
Senior Joseph Fabian put the Hawks on the board first in the 39th minute of play as Chris Hotzak intercepted a pass and cross the ball in from the right side to find Fabian. Three minutes later the Lakers tied the game at one each as Mike Kincaid picked up a turnover by New Paltz to send a shot past Jeffery Dudley into the back of the net.
The Hawks retook the lead in the 60th minute as the Lakers had a failed clear and Fabian tallied his second of the game with a low shot into the net.
Oswego’s Pat Hurley tied the contest at 2-2 with a rebound goal from his own shot in the 73rd minute. It looked as if the game was headed into overtime, but in the 85th minute Laker Chris Carra curled a shot into the net from 20 yards away to give Oswego the 3-2 win.
Oswego State junior goalkeeper Shaun Sessa stopped seven shots for the Lakers. As Jeffery Dudley made three saves in the losing effort. New Paltz falls to 2-5-1 overall with a 0-2-1 mark in conference play.
The Hawks return to action Saturday when they travel to conference foe Cortland for a 1 p.m. match up.
