Hawks Blanked By University of Chicago

CAPE CORAL, FL — The SUNY New Paltz softball team completed their spring break trip with a tough loss this afternoon to the University of Chicago, 8-0 (6 innings). The Hawks finished with a deceiving 2-5 record, though playing extremely well against some of the best Division III teams in the country.

Sophomore pitcher Kelly O’Hea (Huntington Station, NY) pitched six innings allowing eight runs and striking out four in the loss. Senior second baseman Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ) and sophomore catcher Lauren Motzkin (Woodstock, NY) each singled for the Hawks. Sophomore left fielder Joelle Von Bischoffshausen (North Brunswick, NJ), sophomore Amalia Ditrapani (Staten Island, NY), and junior Tanya Dieber (Middletown, NY) each collected one hit in the loss.

The SUNY New Paltz softball team will host Mount St. Mary College in their home opener on Wednesday, March 29, at 3:00 pm.
