SUNY New Paltz Men’s Basketball Drops Season Finale

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team lost their final game of the 2005-2006 season to Plattsburgh, 113-58, this evening.

SUNY New Paltz (5-20, 2-14) struggled from the start, trailing by 17 points with 11:55 remaining in the first half. Plattsburgh (15-9, 8-7) who shot 63.6 percent from the floor surged to a 57-24 lead at the half. Junior guard John Hauser (East Williston, NY) led the offense for the Hawks scoring ten first half points.

SUNY New Paltz would give a valiant effort shooting 48.1 percent from behind the arch in the second half, with the help of senior guard Keith Crichlow (Central Islip, NY) who recorded 18 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Hauser finished the game with 15 points and four rebounds for SUNY New Paltz.

The Cardinals had four players in double figures, senior forward Kris Gibbs-Smith (Rochester, NY) was unstoppable scoring 22 points with five rebounds and sophomore guard Anthony Williams (Brooklyn, NY) totaled 16 points and collected eight defensive rebounds. Sophomore forward Travis Gorham (Bridgeport, CT) crashed the boards for Plattsburgh finishing the evening with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guards, Keith Crichlow (Central Islip, NY), Terrance Dancey (Poughkeepsie, NY), Garnet Lang (Bronx, NY), and John Carter (Mount Vernon, NY) played in the final game of their careers, this evening.
