Hawks Blank Polytechnic For 15th Win

BROOKLYN, NY — In this evening’s North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division match, the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team earned their 15th win of the 2006 season with a 3-0 ( 30-15, 30-20, 30-25) sweep of Polytechnic University.

The Hawks, currently ranked #15 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top 15 Poll, have won back-to-back NECVA Metro Division Matches against Yeshiva and Polytechnic (7-15, 2-9). SUNY New Paltz (15-7, 8-3) commanded play behind solid performances from freshmen, libero Mark Yetman (East Sautucket, NY) and opposite Jason Chandler (Spencerport, NY). Yetman led a strong SUNY New Paltz defense with 12 digs, while Chandler collected ten kills offensively.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team will travel this weekend, March 3-5, to Endicott College for the Endicott March Mania Invitational.
