SUNY New Paltz Women’s Basketball Beaten By Bengals

BUFFALO, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team fell to 1-3 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), 5-6 overall, with a 59-49 loss at the hands of Buffalo State.

SUNY New Paltz (5-6, 1-3), despite some poor shooting, kept the Bengals within range throughout this evening?s contest. The Hawks went 2-of-19, 10.5%, from behind the three-point line and made only 1-of-14 from behind the arch in the second half. Junior forward Kristin Jackson (East Islip, NY) led the Hawks with 12 points and six rebounds off the bench. Sophomore guard Toni Marie Caserta (Levittown, NY) joined Jackson in double figures with ten points. Tying a career-high in steals; sophomore guard Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) nabbed five to provide SUNY New Paltz with some solid defense.

Sophomore guard Toya Parks (Brooklyn, NY) and junior forward Darnika Moseley (Liverpool, NY) controlled the Buffalo State (5-7, 2-2) offense. Parks led all players with 21 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, while also collecting four steals on defense. Moseley supplied the Bengals with a double-double, totaling 11 points and ten rebounds.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team will continue their conference road trip tomorrow, Saturday, January 14 against Fredonia at 2:00 pm
