SUNY New Paltz Men’s Basketball Falls to Defending SUNYAC Champs

POTSDAM, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team suffered their third loss of the season this evening falling to conference rival Potsdam 84-60. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

At the end of the first half, SUNY New Paltz found themselves down by ten points, 45-35. Despite falling behind, the Hawks shot 46.4% from the field in the first half keeping the game within reach. Junior forward John Hauser (East Williston, NY) tallied 16 points, a season high eight rebounds and he shot 6-of-12 from the field. Junior guard Matt Irwin (Brooklyn, NY) collected eight points in the contest. Senior guard Keith Crichlow (Central Islip, NY) netted seven points grabbed four rebounds, and four assists.

The Bears out shot the Hawks in the second half 53% to 31% propelling Potsdam to a 39-point second half. Three Bears finished the evening in double figures. Sophomore guard Dave Bisesi (Liverpool, NY) scored 16 points and four assists, senior forward Edane Barton (Spring Valley, NY) gathered 18 points and 12 boards, and freshman center Brandon Siskavich (Peru) totaled 14 points and seven rebounds in the affair for Potsdam.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, December 6 when they travel to Old Westbury for a 7:30 pm game.
