Freshman Anselmi Brings Home Second Team Recognition

FREDONIA, NY — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced the 2005 All-Conference Teams for women’s soccer. SUNY New Paltz freshman midfielder Jennifer Anselmi (Garnerville, NY) was the only Hawk to receive recognition, garnering a Second Team selection.

SUNY New Paltz ended the regular season 10-6-2 overall and 4-6 in the SUNYAC. Anselmi led the Hawks in scoring tallying six goals and three assists (15 points). She recorded her best game against SUNY IT, where she netted three goals. Jennifer recorded two game winning goals, the first against SUNY IT and the second in the season finale against Farmingdale. In the last five years, Anselmi is the third freshman from SUNY New Paltz to receive All-Conference recognition.

The Hawks took four of their last six games to complete the 2005 regular season. The SUNY New Paltz women?s soccer team is awaiting a possible bid to participate in the Eastern Colligate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament held on November 12th and 13th. If selected to play, it would be the first ECAC Championship appearance for the Hawks since 1999.
